Our Vision

The Latin America and Caribbean Chapter addresses the needs of immigration attorneys whose work focuses on legal issues in the Latin America and the Caribbean jurisdiction. The Chapter provides a forum for the exchange of ideas, practices, and jurisdiction-specific issues, including a rich resource for accessing local counsel in the jurisdiction. We’ve established a lively email list serve where members can ask questions, get fast responses, and share information and resources. Where there are specific areas of concern, as necessary we will vet those issues through AILA National. What’s more, the Latin America and Caribbean Chapter sponsors one of the best CLEs you will find . . . and the CLE will take place in any one of the exciting countries within our jurisdiction.

Our Mission

Our mission is to educate, network, and create a cohesive membership throughout the jurisdiction. The Chapter hosts a variety of web seminars and live conferences dealing with regional and international issues. We also hold in-person and telephonic general membership and committee meetings, offer education in substantive, procedural, and practice matters, while addressing issues which are important to the Chapter’s members. The Chapter also arranges tours and visits to Consular and DHS offices located within the Chapter’s jurisdiction. The Chapter develops relationships and disseminates appropriate AILA information to officials in these offices, while keeping AILA and Chapter members informed, in “real-time,” of changes in government policies and practices. And of great importance, the Chapter serves as a resource for its members to know, mentor, and network with one another, whether far or near.
